GLOBAL WARMING AND IT'S EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT -

Newspaper Article -

The Greenhouse Effect -

  • water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone (greenhouse gases)
  • gases trap energy from the sun - warms the earth
  • without it we would be about 60 degrees F colder on Earth

Cause and Effect -

  • Global warming - change in climate, extinction of animals and plants
  • Chlorofluorocarbons (CFS's) - Depleting ozone layer
  • more factories - more greenhouse gases
  • deforestation - less trees to to absorb CO2 in the atmosphere
  • more cars in use - more gases being released
  • too many greenhouse gases - too much heat being stored up, causing Global warming
Prevention -
  • Use alternate sources of energy (solar)
  • Walking, biking, scootering, etc. instead of using your car
  • recycling, composting
  • carpooling, not idling
  • stop using coal to produce power
  • prevent deforestation
